Ideal Wealth Distribution = Poverty Eradication
A proposal by Arun Ramchandra Pangarkar — practical measures to ensure fair wages, transparency and social justice.
To eradicate poverty, every meaningful and constructive work performed by a person must receive a fair and just remuneration. To ensure that fair value, an Ideal Wealth Distribution System must be developed. This system should be founded on principles of social equity — drawing from socialist ideas — so that no work is treated as inferior or superior but is respected according to its usefulness to society.
Redefining Education and Merit
Education should not be confined to school textbooks; it must mean acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a given work effectively. Merit should not be measured by how much money one accumulates, but by work that contributes to the progress of society and the nation. An Ideal Wealth Distribution System therefore means a structure in which every working person receives just and equitable compensation for their labour.
Key Reforms Required
To deliver this just remuneration the following structural changes are proposed:
- Set maximum and minimum limits on individual income under a framework based on distributive principles.
- Nationalize major sectors — undertake public ownership of key lines of business.
- Arrange for the collective ownership of the nation’s core resources and assets.
- End unrestricted privatization and place essential services under strict public control.
- Eliminate cash transactions — move all financial flows to online and cheque-based systems to ensure transparency and curb corruption.
- Adopt a One Nation, One Bank model where every citizen holds a single bank account, allowing a transparent record of income and transactions. Excess income above the maximum limit is accumulated into a government-managed fund; shortages below the minimum are compensated from that fund to preserve economic balance.
- Provide free access to justice, education and healthcare for all citizens.
- Implement strict population policy such as one couple — one child (policy design and phased enforcement to be debated and applied responsibly).
- Ensure a common basic economic entitlement for everyone; in addition, award extra compensation based on usefulness, quality of work, intelligence, skill, physical & mental effort, and time invested.
Agricultural Reforms
Agriculture should operate through the joint participation of farmers, traders and government. Three specialized divisions should be established:
- Planning Division — analyzes food needs, geography, climate, water availability and soil quality to decide suitable crops and to supply seeds, fertilizers, tools and plant-protection inputs.
- Production Division — farmers and agricultural workers produce the planned crops.
- Marketing Division — traders buy produce and deposit sales proceeds into government accounts via online or cheque transfers, preventing leakages and corruption.
Transparent coordination among these divisions will prevent over-supply or shortages, stabilise prices and reduce agricultural uncertainty. Disaster preparedness and planned responses will also be improved.
Alternative to Cash: Service–Facility System
Alongside eliminating cash, a service–facility exchange can be developed. Under this model, recorded services become facilities for others. Every service performed is digitally recorded and credited with service points based on nature, quality, effort and time invested. Basic facilities remain uniform for all; additional privileges are allocated using service points. This replaces cash purchases and ensures equitable distribution of facilities — a route toward poverty elimination.
Benefits of Ending Cash Transactions
- Corruption can be curbed substantially.
- Illegal vote-buying and election-time money-distribution can be checked.
- Bribery of officials will be reduced.
- Unethical gains by middlemen and brokers will decline.
- Criminal and terror financing through unaccounted funds will be harder to operate.
- Artificial inflation of land and housing prices will fall, improving access for common citizens.
- Theft, smuggling and fraud will decline meaningfully.
- Illegal wasteful spending of black money will diminish.
- Government saving on currency printing and minting can be redirected to public welfare.
- False income claims to exploit welfare schemes would be prevented.
- Tax evasion would be minimized, increasing government revenue for development and equitable wage support to the poor.
