Reservation is Not the Problem, It is a Result of a Bigger Problem — The Caste System
Nowadays, many anti-reservation messages are going viral on social media. But one fundamental question is often ignored — If reservation is considered wrong, are we ready to eliminate the caste system first?
Reservation is not the problem; it is the outcome of a much deeper issue — the caste system. For centuries, certain sections of society were deprived of education, opportunities, and dignity. To ensure equal opportunities, the system of reservation was introduced.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar clearly stated:
“Without annihilation of caste, equality is impossible.”
So the real questions are:
- If we truly believe in equality, why does caste still exist in society?
- Why does caste still influence marriages, social relations, and politics?
- Are we genuinely making efforts to eliminate the caste system?
Poverty does not depend on caste — this is true. But it is equally true that for generations, injustice in India has been caste-based. That is why reservation is not just about economic support, but also about social justice.
Do not rush to remove reservation, prepare to eliminate the caste system first!
If we truly want equality, we must go beyond criticizing reservation and take responsibility for bringing real social change.
